WAY-FINDING ALONG THE CAMINO

We chose not to carry guidebooks. The Way is marked. The Camino Aragonese is lightly travelled, but we always found an albergue or hostel for the night, a cafe/bar for a meal, a small store for food, and sign posts or yellow arrows to confirm we were still en route.

The Camino Norte runs along the Cantabrian coast. It is also a route less travelled and some albergues only have a few beds and are widely spaced. I did lose the trail several times but we developed an instinct for where it would go. For example, if you enter a village and see no yellow arrows, head to the medieval church - the Camino always takes you past it!

The Camino Frances on the other hand is broad and well used and it would be difficult to get lost, but during the few days we were on it we had to leave very early in the morning and to stop early in the afternoon to ensure we had beds for the night.

Here are a few of the various signs along the Camino to assist pilgrims with way-finding - Daniel
