Café con leche is rich and creamy and strong and excellent throughout Spain. It was a daily treat along the Camino to Santiago. Walking in the early morning before dogs stir, my step was often lively anticipating the first coffee of the day, and my pace even quicker afterwards, fueled by the roasted beans.
Jes did not drink café con leche. She is a purist. She drank café solo. Served in a small cup, black and dense, it is not for the faint of heart. Amazing what you learn while travelling about people you thought you knew.
