ARE WE THERE YET?

It doesn't look that far on a map,

which is flat

It did look like a distance from 30,000 feet above when we flew over Spain

and saw the mountains

Then we were in the Pyrenees and on our way, putting one foot in front of the other, step after step, mile after mile, day after day

at day's end we always knew

the Camino had tested our soles (!)

some days it seemed to be the via dolorosa

the way of suffering

other days the via dolce

the sweet waysome days seemed neverending

and when we reached the end, it was too soon
